New York reached 100 degrees this week. It was the hottest day recorded in Central Park in nearly 14 years. The heat sent people to the emergency room and caused delays on NJ Transit.
Elsewhere, two extreme climbers were arrested after getting engaged atop the Empire State Building. A parade of tall ships is headed for the Hudson River. And the mayor, it was revealed, is a Taylor Swift fan.
All New York Suffers in a Heat Wave. It’s Worse in Jamaica, Queens.
The World Cup has also taken hold. In Little Senegal, the mood at watch parties turned from euphoria to despair after a sudden twist in a match. The streets filled with World Cup gear as a way to dress for the weather.
