It was a week of political adjustments. Frank Carone, former chief of staff to former Mayor Eric Adams, was arrested in a bribery scheme. Separately, the NYPD and FBI searched the homes of police officials as part of a corruption inquiry.
Primary elections were held. Mayor Zohran Mamdani had a successful Tuesday, with all the congressional candidates he backed winning their races. Jack Schlossberg’s bid for a Manhattan seat was less successful, his campaign hurt by staff defections and missed meetings.
All the candidates the mayor backed won their primary races on Tuesday, enhancing his political clout in the city and the state.
Elsewhere, the MTA chair called Amtrak’s plans for Penn Station “bizarre.” A teen was sentenced to prison for setting a man on fire on the subway. The man survived.
