This Week In NYC

Late July in New York is a test of endurance. The city offers many reasons to be outside. It also offers air conditioning.

For those who venture out, Summer Streets returns this week. Several miles of city streets will be closed to cars and open to people. It is a rare opportunity to walk in the middle of the road without consequence.

Free outdoor film screenings continue across the boroughs. You can watch a movie with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Movies with a View. In midtown, Paramount+ Movie Nights are happening at Bryant Park.

Dining and Diversions

The summer edition of NYC Restaurant Week is also underway. Many restaurants participate, offering prix-fixe menus for lunch and dinner. It is a good excuse to try a new place or revisit an old one.

If you find yourself in Times Square, a 65-foot hot dog has returned. It is an art installation. It is also a very large hot dog.

Meanwhile, the SummerStage series continues to present free concerts and performances in parks throughout the city.

Jaywalker is open Thursday through Sunday in Bushwick.
