The final weeks of August have arrived. The city is making the most of them, mostly outdoors.
Queens and Manhattan
Before the main tournament begins, the US Open holds its Fan Week. This is the part that is free. You can watch qualifying matches and see top players practice without a ticket. The festivities last all week.
On Saturday, Bryant Park will transform into an open-air circus.
On Saturday, August 29, Bryant Park hosts a performance called Sunset Circus. It is an hour long and requires no payment.
Meanwhile, in Brooklyn
Free outdoor events continue across the borough. A few options for the week:
- The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival is underway in Prospect Park.
- Movies with a View screens films at Brooklyn Bridge Park, which offers a skyline with its programming.
- The Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park runs its Summer at the Terminal series through August 30.
