Welcome to the Eater Cocktail Heatmap, focusing on the hottest new bar openings in New York every month.
Eater editors do thorough reporting on the most exciting restaurant openings to hit the city, as well as smaller openings worth having on the radar. In this monthly map, we narrow the field to cocktail bars that are drawing the most excitement, buzz, crowds, and early positive chatter, focusing on spots that have only been open for six months or less. When an Eater editor has already been to a place, we share insider tips on what to expect and what’s worth ordering as well.
New to the list in July: We’ve added Limo Bar in the East Village, New York Distilling Company’s new cocktail bar Jaywalker in Bushwick, actual boat bar Fireboat along Brooklyn Bridge Park, quirky Museum Bar + Gift Shop in Bushwick, and wine shop Smith & Vine’s easygoing Hidden Rivers Beer Garden in Gowanus. For now, we’ve removed Stone & Soil, Kees, and Much Obliged.
Jaywalker
New York Distilling Company opened a new cocktail bar within its Bushwick space in June. Jaywalker focuses on the company’s Jaywalk Rye, used for a rye egg cream cocktail and $12 Manhattans, served in an industrial space with residential loft-ish details like comfy sofas and coffee tables. Even better: Brooklyn Chinese American restaurant Kings Co. Imperial is offering food.
