Jaywalker Opens in Bushwick Mixing Cocktails and Culture

New York Distilling Company has opened Jaywalker, a new cocktail bar and event space in Bushwick that aims to blur the line between distillery, neighborhood hangout, and cultural venue. Located at 573 Johnson Avenue, the 3,000-square-foot space is built around Jaywalk Rye, while offering guided tastings, live performances, and rotating creative programming celebrating New York’s long relationship with rye whiskey.
The cocktail program is led by beverage industry veteran Jamie Gordon and draws inspiration from classic New York institutions, bodegas and neighborhood greenmarkets.
Alongside $12 house Manhattans and Martinis, guests will find inventive drinks such as a rye whiskey Egg Cream made with cognac, chocolate syrup, milk, and seltzer, as well as the Floral Arrangement Martini featuring Dorothy Parker Gin, jasmine-infused vermouth, and chamomile bitters. Summer-ready frozen cocktails, including a Vesper Frosé and a Vacation Mode Manhattan, add a playful touch to a menu.
Food comes courtesy of Brooklyn favorite Kings Co Imperial, which is serving a menu of shareable dim sum and comfort dishes including dumplings, chicken wontons, and cold sesame noodles.
Open Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Jaywalker offers a distinctly New York take on cocktails.
