The season for watching movies on a lawn is ending. The Paramount+ Movie Nights series at Bryant Park holds its final screening of the year this Monday, September 14. It is the last chance to join the midtown office workers on the grass.
For those who prefer a different view, the Movies with a View series continues at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Manhattan skyline provides the backdrop.
Music and Steins
Free concerts are still available citywide. The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival continues its run in Prospect Park, and the SummerStage series is also ongoing in various parks. For a more unexpected venue, the MTA is bringing fifty free musical performances above ground in Midtown through October 22.
Trumpet tunes get a modern makeover at the Festival of New Trumpet Music, an annual celebration.
The free Festival of New Trumpet Music also returns this week. Elsewhere, the season turns toward autumn. Oktoberfest festivities have begun at bars and beer halls across the city.
Views and Exhibits
If you prefer views to music, the city has opened up the roof of the Manhattan Municipal Building for free tours. It offers a new perspective on downtown without the usual price tag.
In Grand Army Plaza, the Brooklyn Public Library is showing “Unbound,” a free exhibition by a Brooklyn artist. The show is on view through December 27.
